OPINION: Thankful for care

November 24th, 2017 | Colleen Swan Print this article   Email this article

I am thankful for the community health aides at the Kivalina Health Clinic, the doctor in the emergency room at the regional hospital, the Maniilaq Health Center and to the medical evacuation Guardian med flight crew that flew my father to both hospitals. Most especially, I am thankful to the team in the critical care unit at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. I am also thankful to my daughter who works in the medical field who stood by her "Papa" and me, supporting us all along the way — even staying up through the night in his hospital room.

And let us not forget the praying communities across Alaska. God is still in control and may he continue to bless the healing hands of all involved in health care. Happy Thanksgiving. Amen.
