Davis, Mariners run to titles in Kodiak
Homer had five runners finish in the top 10
Jacob Davis and Luciano Fasulo raced to a 1-3 finish this past Saturday and helped the Homer Mariners edge out Kodiak for the top spot in the team standings at the 2017 Kodiak Invitational.
Homer had five runners finish in the top 10 and finished with just 27 points. Kodiak finished a narrow second with 28.
Davis and Fasulo helped Homer dominate the top of the leaderboard. Davis won the 5-kilometer race with a blistering time of 17 minutes, 24 seconds. Kodiak's Brenden Thompson finished secon at 17:28.
Fasulo claimed the bronze medal with a third-place time of 18:23.
Jordan Beachy, Bill Rich and Denver Waclawski rounded out the Mariners' scoring with outstanding efforts on the trail at Fort Abercrombie. Beachy legged out a sixth-place time of 18:23, while Rich checked in at No. 7 at 18:31. Waclawski was 10th overall with a time of 19:06.
Seth Inama, Mose Hayes and Clayton Beachy added to the Mariners' impressive effort by finishing in the top 20. Inama was 14th at 19:41, while Hayes and Beachy came in at No. 16 and No. 18, respectively, with times of 19:49 and 20:15.
Gabe LeBlanc and Travis Coffey finished 24th and 25th, respectively. LeBlanc turned in a personal-best of 21:18, while Coffey raced across the finish line at 21:20.
Andy Super, Hunter Patton, Peter Sythe and Ancil Chandlier placed 33rd, 36th and 37th.
The Mariners will return to action on Friday when they travel to Seward to compete in the Frank Dieckgraeff Invitational.
