There will be no shortage of high school sportage this weekend for rural Alaska wrestlers.

Teams from Barrow to Bethel will swing into action this weekend by competing in several tournaments.

The action will begin in Kotzebue this weekend as area teams converge on the Dawg House to compete in the Northwest Arctic Borough High School Scramble. In all, nine teams will be sending wrestlers to the mat beginning on Oct. 14. Among the teams attending will be Ambler, Noatak, Buckland, Noorvik, Selawik, Kiana, Kivalina, Shugnak and Kotzebue.

In Bethel, Dillingham will kick off its season by joining 21 teams from across the region at the 2016 Bethel Scramble. The meet will begin on Oct. 14 and run through Saturday.

Joining Dillingham in the field will be western Alaska powers Nome and Bethel.
