Wayne W. Matthews, 27, of Barrow, pleaded guilty to the class C felony of assault in the third degree for repeated threat of death or injury and reached a plea agreement. He was then found guilty of the class A misdemeanor of assault in the fourth degree for causing fear of injury.

He was sentenced to 180 days in jail with all 180 days suspended and must pay a $50 misdemeanor police training surcharge and an initial jail surcharge of $50. He has been ordered to contact North Slope Borough Behavioral Health within seven days of his release from jail for an anger management, violence rehabilitation, and alternatives to violence assessment and complete a screening, evaluation, and recommended program and file proof of compliance with the court within 30 days of his judgment date.

He has been placed on probation for two years during which time he may have no contact, directly or indirectly, with David Saganna Jr. or David Saganna Sr. and he must stay at least 100 feet away from 7073 Uula Street in Barrow by order of Judicial Officer David Roghair, effective Oct. 5.

Anthony E. Stotts, 22, of Barrow, pleaded guilty to the class C felony of assault in the third degree and reached a plea agreement. He was then found guilty of the class A misdemeanor of reckless endangerment. He was sentenced to 270 days in jail with 220 days suspended and credit for time served.

He must pay a $50 misdemeanor police training surcharge and an initial jail surcharge of $50. He has been ordered to contact North Slope Borough Behavioral Health within seven days of his release from custody for an alcohol and mental health assessment and complete a screening, evaluation, and recommended program and file proof of compliance with the court.

He has been placed on probation for one year following his release during which time he may not use or possess any firearms or have any contact, directly or indirectly, with Briana Ferguson unless she files written consent with the court. In a separate case, Stotts pleaded guilty to assault in the fourth degree for reckless injury and reached a plea agreement.

He was then found guilty of the class B misdemeanor of harassment in the second degree for offensive physical contact. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail to be served consecutively with his other sentence. He must pay a $50 police training surcharge and a $50 initial jail surcharge. He has also been ordered to pay restitution totaling $509 to Briana Ferguson by order of Magistrate Judge David Roghair, effective Oct. 4.
