Did you miss the Iḷisaġvik College registration event? The fall semester at Iḷisaġvik College is just getting under way, but those interested in registering for a semester- long course can still do so until Sept. 5. Enrollment into shorter course is possible throughout the semester, depending on the start dates.

Whether you have thought about taking a course for personal interest or professional development, Iḷisaġvik encourages you to take a look at the course schedule posted on the Web site, or simply call to learn more.

Alaska's only tribal college offers courses in many disciplines that include vocational trades, business and accounting, allied health, information technology, liberal arts, Iñupiaq Studies, industrial safety, education, and emergency services. Students have more choices than ever regarding the format of their classes: traditional, face-to-face, online, blended, teleconference, and seminar style.

Most classes are scheduled to be convenient for working students and their employers. Recent high school graduates wanting to start their education close to home can build their foundation at Iḷisaġvik College. An Associate's degree from Ilisagvik is transferable to four-year universities.

For students who are not feeling quite ready for college, but want to attend, or for those that have been out of school for many years, foundational courses are offered to help them gain necessary skills for college success.

All degree-seeking students in their first year are required to participate in the First Year Seminar — a two day class developed to make the transition to college life easier by addressing career awareness, study skills, health and well-being, personal finance, and traditional knowledge.

All programs at Iḷisaġvik College are grounded in Iñupiaq studies, and it is the mission of the college to provide an education that perpetuates Iñupiaq history, language, and culture, while preparing students for work or further education.
