Kotzebue's John Baker, the 2011 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race champion, signed up once again Monday for the 1,000-mile race from Willow to Nome. Baker is the first and only Inupiat dog driver to win the race.

After his win in 2011, Baker was ninth in 2012 and 21st in 2013. He has finished the epic event 18 times and of those, has earned a top 10 finish 14 times, including his winning year. Baker has garnered more than half a million dollars in prize money from Iditarod alone.

As of Tuesday, 62 mushers were on the roster for the 2014 race.
