Everyone already knew Lynette Hepa and Hilary Lowery were among the best players in the state. The Alaska Schools Activities Association made it official, though.

ASAA officials selected the two Barrow High School standouts to the 2013 Class 3A all-state tournament team on Saturday following the Lady Whalers' win over Anchorage Christian School Lady Lions in the state championship game at Sullivan Arena. Overall, 10 girls and nine boys were selected.

Hepa, a 6-foot-4 forward, and Lowery powered Barrow to its second state title in three years with standout efforts at the three-day state tournament. Both scored better than 50 points in the tournament.

Joining Hepa and Lowery on the all-state tournament squad were two players from ACS and Hutchison. Making the team from ACS were Sara Geagle and Dallas Dickerson. Hutchison's Mimi Wood and Elly Veazey represented the Lady Hawks.

Also named to the team were Valdez's Marian Wamsley and Alex Derifield, Houston's NeNe Hale and Sitka's Megan Reed.

Bethel's Theodore Naneng was among two Western Conference players making the boys' all-state tournament squad. Also making the team was Nome-Beltz's Dominique Hall.
