Deering, Buckland post three wins in NWASB action

Deering and Buckland both proved something this past weekend: They know a thing or two about winning basketball.
Both Buckland and Deering nailed down three wins in Northwest Arctic School District's Class 1A ranks during weekend action. The two teams played four games in two days as part of a round-robin tournament with Upriver.
Deering picked up a pair of thrilling wins on Friday, downing Upriver by a 62-56 margin, and then claiming a nail-biting 55-52 decision over Buckland.
Buckland rebounded from the loss later in the day by defeating Upriver, 69-51.
Buckland flexed its muscle on Saturday, claiming a pair of wins. In their first game, they defeated Deering by a 51-33 clip, and then closed out their efforts with a 47-29 win over Upriver.
Deering collected its third win of the weekend on Saturday morning with a thrilling 59-58 decision over Upriver.
In girls' Class 1A action, Buckland claimed a pair of wins over Deering.
In the first game of their weekend twinbill, Buckland posted a 54-25. They closed out the series on Saturday with a 51-33 decision.
