It was the first home games of the season for the Noorvik boys basketball team and the Bears didn't disappoint.

Led by the 1-2 punch of Danny Wells and Elmer Armstrong, Noorvik ran away with an 81-41 victory on the first night.

Wells poured in 26 points and Armstrong collected 22 to overwhelm a short-handed Selawik squad down to five players and missing leading rebounder Doug Brown.

"We came out with a lot of intensity and attacked the basket early," said Noorvik coach Darren Zibell. "As a team we tend to rely too much on the 3-ball, but I was glad to see my boys making an effort to get to the rim."

Selawik was led by Bryson Lee's 19 points and Lawrence Foster's 14.

In the second game, Noorvik won 76-47.

Patrick Smith bagged 20 points and Kevin Hankinson went off for a career-high 16 points.

"I have my full squad suiting up now and am excited for our games this coming weekend against Unalakleet," Zibell said. "They are a big team with some very athletic players."

Lee and Foster were the top scorers for Selawik again with 20 and 16, respectively.
