Santa's cranberry bars

I love my job at Bering Air. I get to meet many people from different walks of life. A few summers ago, I met a passenger who I had a fun conversation with. After talking for a while, I told him he reminded me of Santa Claus. He smiled and than asked, "what would you like for Christmas this year?"
It was berry-picking time, and without much thought I said that I wanted some new low bush cranberry recipes. We laughed, his flight came in, and he left. A few weeks later I received in the mail an envelope in the mail addressed to: Donna@Bering Air, Unalakleet. There was no return address but the envelope was stamped from North Pole, Alaska. Inside were three recipes. Today I baked the cranberry squares for Jeff's Christmas staff party. Here is the recipe:
It is called: Xoot Wapato
1 cup flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Mix together and press into jelly-roll pan or large cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 15 min.
Mix together the following:
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
2 beaten eggs
2 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
1 cup low bush cranberries
1 cup coconut
Spread over crust and bake at 350 for 25-35 min.
